Authorities mentioned they were contacted by a individual who noticed a car in Hanau smeared with reddish fluid

Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a release.

Police state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.

The liquid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.

Officers then located numerous other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement state initial examinations show the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; officials are currently not aware of any injuries in association with the event," they added.

Municipal representatives said they were working "to unravel the case" and have requested to the community for information.

A senior representative commented the vandalism rendered him stunned and had to be addressed promptly.

"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a assailant targeting individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
